Day 1: Mombasa - Taita Hills Nature Reserve

In the morning we pick up your family from your beach resort (Mombasa North or South coast) and then drive through Mombasa, Mariakani and the huge sisal fields of Voi to the little and private nature reserve Taita Hills. The drive through the pulsating Mombasa is a great experience especially for your children and there are so much things to see. You are welcomed in your lodge for lunch, afterwards you have some time for leisure and your children can discover the surrounding area. Perhaps they will already find some animals at the nearby waterhole which can be watched from the lodge.

The Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge is built on stilts and connected with boardwalks. The animals can pass under the rooms which is a very special things amongst the lodges and camps in Kenya. Due to this extraordinary architecture it is a great scenery. When the heat of noon has settled you start your first game drive that ends at nightfall. This first exciting day ends with a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Taita Hills Nature Reserve

At dawn and after only a cup of coffee or tea you start your early morning game drive with lots of excitement. Afterwards you enjoy a rich breakfast so that you can regenerate for this day.

The about 100 km² reserve borders Tsavo West National Park. The landscape is shaped by the rocks of Taita Hills and bush savannahs. Besides the African big game you will also see big cats and many bird species. The first encounter with an elephant will impress your whole family.
Back at Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge another adventure is waiting for your family. An underground bunker with view enables the visitor to watch the animals from a totally new perspective. What normally is only seen at the zoo can be watched here amidst the wild.
In the evening you enjoy exquisite food at the nice restaurant or under the stars, always with view to the flora and fauna of Taita Hills.

Day 3: Taita Hills Nature Reserve - Tsavo West National Park

After a comfortable breakfast you check out and drive to your next stop on your safari, Severin Safari Camp.
But first you drive to Lake Jipe, an insider's tipp amongst safari experts. The drive leads you through the steppe and you will get an incredible view over the lake and the mountains of Tanzania. With a little bit of luck you will see elephants close by and it's these game views that for both the young and the adult family members will be exciting, interesting and adventurous! With view to the lake you enjoy a lunch box during a picnic and forget the time around you.
You drive on to Chala Lake where you will be rewarded with a great view. The border of Kenya and Tanzania goes just through the middle of the lake, and it is deep blue and surrounded by a crater lip of up to 100m. Your child-friendly driver will explain several exciting details to the vulcanic origin of the lake.  In the late afternoon you reach the beautiful Severin Safari Camp where the Masais Tom and Dickson are already waiting for you and welcome you with a first little refreshment. Your children can write down the exciting animal encounters on a little slate directly at the entrance of the camp. You enjoy dinner at the "Out of Africa Restaurant" and spend the remains of the evening with a glass of wine or lemonade at the campfire.

Day 4: Tsavo West National Park

Did you hear the sound of the African night? The hustle of the animals outside of the camp will wake you up and with sunrise your next early morning game drive starts alongside the springs of the Tsavo River - the lifeline for hippos and crocodiles. After your game drive a delicious breakfast is waiting for you at the camp.
Now you have time to discover the other highlights of the camp: Enjoy the great view over the bush from the pool. Your children can learn from the Masais about the real life amidst the wilderness.
After a little refreshment in your tent, a great lunch at the restaurant is waiting for you. You want to meet with crocodiles and hippos? The perfect excursion for this takes place in the afternoon with a trip to the famous Mzima Springs, bedded into a wonderful oasis of palm trees and acacias. The cristal clear springs provide water for Mombasa and are a paradise for fishes, crocodiles and hippos. But you can't bathe here!
Back at the camp an á  la carte dinner is waiting for you in the restaurant. The vespertine campfire in front of the lighted waterhole cares for safari romance under the starry sky. You children will love the safari stories that will be told.

Day 5: Tsavo West National Park - Mombasa

After breakfast you start your drive to Tsavo River Gate. Your last game drive will lead you alongside the exciting history of Tsavo National Park and your guide will bring you to Roaring Rocks which were the hideout for Mau Mau warriors during Kenya's war of independence.
The Indian Ocean can be seen now! You leave Tsavo National Park and drive back to Mombasa. During a little break you enjoy the lunch box that the camp team has prepared for you and also has a little surprise for your children. You will be back at your hotel in the afternoon and will for sure always remember your unique family safari!
