Day 1: From Kilimanjaro airport to Arusha

You are picked up by your driver at the airport and brought to Meru View Lodge in Arusha. Spend the remaining day as you like to: Relax at the lodge or discover the town.

In the evening you get all the necessary information on the planned ascent during a preliminary talk. You stay overnight at Meru View Lodge.

Day 2: Adventure Kilimanjaro starts now!

In the morning you drive from the lodge the the park entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park. Watch the hustle and bustle of the mountain team and enjoy the hectic anticipation!

After only a few steps you enter the thick mountain rain forest and see huge jungle trees, lianas and lichens. Keep your eyes open, perhaps you will discover one of the black and white Colobus monkeys in the treetops.

After about 5-6 hours and shortly above the timberline on 3.010 m you reach today’s destination. After dinner you stay overnight in a tent of Machame Camp at Kilimanjaro.

Day 3: Further uphill!

You start in the early morning and cross heath and marsh land and the hiking trail soon steepens. Can you see the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro over there?

Today's stage is shorter than the last one and by mid-afternoon, you will reach the campsite at the Shira Plateau. The Shira Camp offers a breathtaking view of the mountain and during sunset, the warm evening sun lights the rock face and glacier of Kibo.

Day 4: Approaching your destination

Today’s hiking starts with a trekking to Lava Tower (4.640 m). Afterwards it goes down again through the spacious Barranco Valley with its huge senecio and lobelia plants.

During today’s trek you have climbed about 700 m but today’s camp is located only slightly higher than yesterday’s Shira Camp. This allows your body to acclimatise more easily.

Look forward to your dinner and your overnight at Barranco Camp.

Day 5: High and higher…

Today you climb the steep Barranco Wall, your guide is there to help you. Now your way goes on over different ridges, don’t forget to enjoy the wonderful view to the Southern glacier of Kibo.

At lunch time you rest at Karanga Valley before starting the last 2-3 hours climbing to Barafu Camp ( 4.640 m). After an early dinner you take a nap and look forward to tomorrow’s ascent.

Day 6: Finally: The roof of Africa!

After a hot tea and a little snack you start your ascent at midnight. After about 5-7 hours through the night and into the early morning you finally reach Stella Point ( 5.730 m), the crater rim of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

While you watch the sun rise you climb up the last 1-2 hours along the crater rim and to Uhuru Peak (5.895 m). Congratulations, you have conquered the highest mountain in Africa!

The simple descent runs almost along the same route and shortly before midday, you will arrive at Barafu Camp. Here, the rest of the mountain crew will have waited for you and upon your return will provide you with warm meal. After a well-deserved break of 1 - 2 hrs, you will be on your way to Mweka Camp (3080m) where an evening meal and a well earned sleep awaits you.

Day 7: Full of pride on your way back

After breakfast and the traditional farewell ceremony from the mountain guides you start your gentle 2-3 hours descent through the rain forest and to Mweka Gate. Here your driver is waiting for you and after a short ride you reach Meru View Lodge in Arusha.

Relax at the swimming pool after this tiring adventure and look back on your last days and your personal accomplishment full of pride!
